Pearse Flynn on Ireland’s future as a power exporter

EI-H2 founder Pearse Flynn has spoken of his vision for Ireland to become a leading source of power generation.

Speaking in on Breakfast Business on Go Loud Now back in May, he shared his excitement for EI-H2 to become the driving force behind Ireland’s hydrogen future.

As we previously reported, it is hoped the green hydrogen produced by EI-H2 will significantly decarbonise Cork’s lower harbour through a 50MW electrolysis plant in Aghada.

“It’s an exciting project,” Pearse said of EI-H2.

“If you look at Ireland, it has plans to generate 7G of offshore wind by 2030 and it’s looking highly likely that will happen.

“As we sit today, we’re looking at probably 63 applications for offshore wind. Our vision is we see Ireland becoming a power exporter.”

He continued: Our first project in Cork is one of the biggest in the world in terms of current sizes, but in the next five or six years it won’t be big. Our plan in Cork is to create green energy from hydrogen and decarbonise local industries in the Cork Harbour area.”
